The Melbourne Demons was established in 1858, which makes it the oldest clubs in the AFL. In 2008, the club celebrated its 150th birthday. The celebration was led by naming 150 heros. The team also created a birthday logo which was used on the the team’s official jumper. The team first played outside the MCG in winter in 1858. It is recorded that football was formed to keep cricket players fit throughout winter, when they don’t play cricket. In 1877, the Melbourne Demons became a foundation member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA).
